"Hi there. I love Ask Engadget and I've got a problem I hope you can help with. I run my own business and deal with thousands of contacts on a regular basis. I need a more efficient way of cataloging their contact details than Gmail contacts or my OS X address book -- since I'd like to be able to tag-search for people who work for the same company or in the same industry. Friends have suggested using a spreadsheet, but I'm sure someone's invented a more efficient method than that, so any pointers you can give would be amazing, thanks!"

With a small army of contacts we have to marshall on a regular basis, we feel your pain Ellio. We've heard some things about Flexadex, but many of our staffers just muddle on through with Gmail. That's why we'll open the floor to our beautiful and clever commenters to find out what they use on a regular basis.

September 10, 7-8:30 pm: Help! My Child is Disorganized!?An expert from Your Life Simplified, Inc. will discuss the factors that may be contributing to your child's disorganization. You also will learn skills that you can teach your child to be organized for success in school. This workshop will be held at Kingsview Middle School (18909 Kingsview Road) in Germantown.

September 24, October 1, October 8, and October 15, 6:30-8:30 pm: Special Education: Parents as Advocates and the Family-School Partnership (4-part series)?Learn about the special education process and how to advocate for your child. Topics include the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Individualize Education Program (IEP), resolving issues, community resources, and support. Learn, network, and share tips with other parents. This is a four-part series, with different topics at each session. All workshops will take place at Neelsville Middle School (11700 Neelsville Church Road) in Germantown.

October 3, 7-8:30 pm: Understanding ADHD?Learn about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and explore strategies and interventions that support academic and social success. Presented by CHADD. The workshop will take place at Parkland Middle School (4610 West Frankfort Drive) in Rockville.

October 17, 7-8:30 pm: Effective Parent-Teacher Conferences (Presented in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, Amharic, Vietnamese, and Korean)?Parent-teacher conferences are an important component of ongoing home-school communication and family engagement. Come learn tips and strategies to prepare for an effective parent-teacher conference. Presented in collaboration with the Division of ESOL. This workshop will take place at Gaithersburg Middle School (2 Teachers Way) in Gaithersburg.

October 25, 7-8:30 pm: Helping Kids Deal with Anger?Anger can help identify problems but not always solve them. This workshop will address ways parents can help their children recognize early warning signs and develop strategies for dealing with their anger in a positive way. Militants attack Pakistan army post, kill 8 troops

ISLAMABAD (AP) ? Taliban militants attacked a Pakistani army post near the Afghan border before dawn Wednesday, killing eight soldiers, a reminder of the threat posed by insurgents despite numerous military offensives against them.

The attack occurred in the South Waziristan tribal area, once the main stronghold for the Pakistani Taliban, said a military official. The military launched a large offensive against militants there in 2009, but insurgents still operate in the area and periodically stage attacks.

In addition to the eight soldiers killed, six others were wounded in the attack near Ghatbadr village in the Shakai Valley, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the media. The attack started around midnight and lasted for several hours, he said.

The attack followed the start of a new army operation to rout militants from the area, said the official. During the operation over the last two days, soldiers killed 18 militants and destroyed seven of their hideouts. Another 21 militants were wounded, according to the official.

The official initially said nine soldiers were killed but later lowered the toll to eight.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack on the post. The group's spokesman, Ahsanullah Ahsan, claimed they killed 12 soldiers and beheaded some of them.

The differing accounts could not be independently verified.

The military has conducted offensives against the Pakistani Taliban in six of the seven areas that make up Pakistan's semiautonomous tribal region along the Afghan border.

The U.S. said recently that Pakistan plans to launch an operation against the Pakistani Taliban in the last major militant sanctuary in region, North Waziristan. But Pakistani military officials have downplayed the comments, saying they plan to slowly increase pressure against militants in North Waziristan rather than launch a sweeping offensive.

Many Pakistani Taliban militants fled to North Waziristan and other parts of the tribal region following the army operation in South Waziristan in 2009.

Hot Toys Jake Sully Avatar review Tonight I'm visiting the world of Pandora - no, not the jewelry. No, not the radio app. And no, not the first woman in Greek mythology. I'm talking about Avatar, not the Last Airbender Avatar but the Jake Sully Avatar. Not the Monsters Inc. Sully, but the Jake Sully. Wow, Cameron really needs to be a bit more creative with the names. Do your research and learn to empower your position with two types of software.? Understanding the profit and loss of the company as well as your own will lead you to more skilled decisions.

Every investor will encounter loss and for this reason it is crucial that investors understand the vital concept of asset allocation.? No one investment or individual holding should wipe out an entire portfolio.? The key is effective allocation and expert investors may not share tips and tricks of the trade, but they will share this ? the way in which you allocate your investments is key to long-term success.

Rule #7:? Practice, and Practice Some More

Prior to real-time investing become familiar with the stock market, and a few companies in particular.? Note why you like them and then follow their stock.? Watch, and learn whether your decision would have made money, or lost money.? Chart the movements of the stock market and the companies that you are watching each day, manually, because comparison counts.? Forego the computer software that tracks the movements for you and remember, this is a learning curve.?
