I was in the salon the other day and overheard a rather interesting conversation. A client was talking about her frustration with her husband?s approach to handling delicate family situations. She stated that he always wants to be upfront and honest about everything with their children because that?s the way HE was raised. That alone wasn?t really her problem. Her gripe was that she believes that children don?t need to know everything!! I looked up from my iPhone to acknowledge my agreement with her and was welcomed to join the the conversation.

Before I could delve into this discussion, I needed to hear some specifics. (Be careful what you ask for.) She stated that because they were going through some financial trials, her husband shared with their 12 year old daughter that they were no longer doing certain frivolous weekend activities to cut back on spending and proceeded to say they may be heading to foreclosure on their home. She was mortified! To make matters worse, she said that her 10 year old son was having nightmares after her husband told him about his plans to have a vasectomy!

Ok! Screech! Wait! Timeout! What!?! I could agree with the sharing of the financial situation because I have had conversation with with my own tween once: Son, We are NOT the Trumps. There is MONEY coming from my account with every SWIPE. It is not magic!? But all the extra details that Dear Ol? Dad provided were a bit much. I could see why she was livid! But me (as usual) playing devil?s advocate, I told her that I agreed with her husband. It all depends on a child?s age. I feel that they need to be aware of certain things, that are AGE APPROPRIATE and in a way that won?t cause alarm. Your vibe and delivery are everything! You know better than anyone else what your children can handle. If you?re not good at this, then yes, you may want to just leave the subject alone.

I?m somewhat of a private person. So, naturally, Only a few people in my life know more than what?s on Facebook, Twitter or my blog. I like it that way. Therefore, I?m inclined not to tell my children any and everything that I don?t want repeated. I also feel that children can?t relate to heavy topics due to lack of maturity. Plus, I feel like these sweet babies of ours are only children for a short while and grown-ups for the rest of their lives. Giving them fully-loaded information can either be exaggerated by their own little imaginative minds (potentially leading to devastation) or it blows right over their head like a jetliner. Whatever your stance is, there is always a delicate and thin line that you have to walk in order to raise savvy little people, and at the same time, protect them.

NASA's Curiosity rover is due to touch down on the Martian surface on August 5, but a malfunction in another NASA spacecraft orbiting Mars will mean we'll all have to wait longer to find out if the landing is successful. ?

This 11-minute animation depicts key events of NASA's Mars Science Laboratory mission, which will launch in late 2011 and land a rover, Curiosity, on Mars in August 2012.

NASA's 1-ton Curiosity rover, the centerpiece of the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) mission, is slated to land on the Martian surface on the night of Aug. 5 to investigate whether the planet is, or ever was, capable of harboring?past or present microbial life. But first, the rover will have to survive a harrowing journey through the Red Planet's atmosphere ? a process that has been nicknamed the "seven minutes of terror."

"[T]he Curiosity landing is the hardest NASA robotic mission ever attempted in the history of?exploration of Mars, or any of our robot exploration," John Grunsfeld, associate administrator for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, said in a news briefing today (July 16) at the agency's headquarters in Washington, D.C. "This is risky business."

And a glitch in an aging Mars orbiter may compromise Earth's communications with Curiosity slightly, forcing the mission team to wait a few more agonizing minutes to learn the fate of their $2.5 billion rover. [How Curiosity's Nail-Biting Landing Works (Pictures)]

An unprecedented landing

Since Curiosity is too large for an airbag-assisted landing, NASA is using a complex and unprecedented sky crane system to safely lower the rover onto the surface of the Red Planet. This sequence of events ? called entry, descent and landing (EDL) ? will last approximately seven minutes.

"Those seven minutes are the most challenging part of this entire mission," said Pete Theisinger, MSL project manager at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "For the landing to succeed, hundreds of events will need to go right, many with split-second timing and all controlled autonomously by the spacecraft."

As Curiosity?streaks through the Martian atmosphere, the spacecraft must slow itself from roughly 13,200 mph (about 21,250 kilometers per hour) to zero in only seven minutes. The rocket-powered sky crane, which acts similar to a backpack with three nylon cords attached, will help to control the rover's descent.

"EDL is like a game of dominoes," said Doug McCuistion, director of the Mars Exploration Program at NASA Headquarters. "With the release of the cruise stage, that's the first domino that's been flicked. If one of them is out of place, it's very likely that the last domino does not fall, which means MSL Curiosity may hit the ground harder than we'd like it to."

Nasa may not hear rover's landing

Nasa might not be able to follow the progress of its big Mars rover all the way to the surface when it attempts to land on the planet on 6 August (GMT).

The Curiosity vehicle is aiming for a deep depression known as Gale Crater.

The US space agency will be tracking the descent with satellites, but its prime craft for the task may not now be in the correct place in the sky.

Engineers have been tackling a fault on the Odyssey satellite and it has yet to take up the best observational orbit.

Unless that is achieved in the next three weeks, Nasa will lose signal to the rover just as it is about to touch down.

This will not affect the outcome of the landing because Curiosity's descent manoeuvres are all performed autonomously, but it will give rise to some high anxiety as everyone awaits confirmation that the $2.5bn mission is safely on the surface.

"To be clear it won't have any impact on landing; it's all a communications issue," said Doug McCuistion, the director of Nasa's Mars exploration programme.

The 900kg robot's entry, descent and landing (EDL) will be the most dangerous aspect of the entire mission.

The rover, in its protective capsule, will hit the top of the Martian atmosphere at 20,000km/h (13,000mph) and attempt to slow to just one metre per second to execute a soft touch-down.

Curiosity - Mars Science Laboratory

• Onboard plutonium generators will deliver heat and electricity for at least 14 years
• 75kg science payload more than 10 times as massive as those of earlier US Mars rovers
• Equipped with tools to brush and drill into rocks, to scoop up, sort and sieve samples
• Variety of analytical techniques to discern chemistry in rocks, soil and atmosphere
• Will try to make first definitive identification of organic (carbon rich) compounds
• Even carries a laser to zap rocks; beam will identify atomic elements in rocks

This rapid deceleration must be achieved in about seven minutes or Curiosity will smash into the ground.

Engineers have built a complex EDL system that includes a supersonic parachute and a rocket-powered crane. Everything must work on cue and in sequence.

It was expected that the Odyssey orbiter would track the whole descent, relaying UHF signals from the rover right up to the landing and for a few minutes beyond.

But the spacecraft recently experienced a reaction wheel failure.

This device is used to keep the satellite properly orientated, and because engineers have been investigating the issue they have not as yet moved Odyssey into the correct orbit to see the full landing sequence - and they may not do so.

This would leave Nasa blind for the final, nail-biting two minutes of the landing operation.

Antennas on Earth will be following the decent but they will lose contact as Curiosity hurtles into Gale, one of the deepest holes on Mars. The steep crater walls will block all direct radio transmission to the home planet not long after the supersonic parachute is opened.

The agency will have two other orbiters watching the decent - the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO), and the Europeans' Mars Express spacecraft - but these only have a "store and forward" capability, which means they will not be able to confirm a landing has taken place until their data has been passed to Earth.

MRO is the key satellite here, and its data will not be available to engineers on Earth for three to four hours after landing.

As things stand, and unless Odyssey is moved, Nasa will have to wait until this satellite in its present orbit passes the landing site. This could be five to 10 minutes after the planned touch down.

The projected landing time is 22:31 PDT 5 August; 01:31 EDT, 05:31 GMT, 06:31 BST 6 August. This is "Earth receive" time - the time a signal sent from Mars is received on Earth.

The 250 million km between Mars and Earth on 5/6 August mean a radio transmission takes just under 14 minutes to pass between the two planets.

"If Odyssey is not able to be moved and it still remains late, that means it will fly over [Curiosity] after the spacecraft has landed, and we presumably will [then] be able to see transmissions from it. It would be some between 22:35 and 22:40 PDT," explained Pete Theisinger, the rover project manager at Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California.

Curiosity - also known as the Mars Science laboratory (MSL) - is the most sophisticated space vehicle ever built to touch the surface of another world.

Assuming the robot lands safely, it will spend 98 (Earth) weeks scouring Martian soils and rocks for any signs that current or past environments on the planet could have supported microbial life.

Gale Crater was chosen as the landing site because satellite indicates there are sediments in the depression that were laid down in the presence of abundant water.

MSL-Curiosity is equipped with 10 advanced instruments. It also has a plutonium battery and so should have ample power to keep rolling for more than a decade.

It is likely the mechanisms on the rover will wear out long before its energy supply.

Some people are different. Some people have abilities that most can?t fathom. Most of the people know that they?re different, but most don?t let on about it. If they did, they would be seen as insane, and if they made it obvious, they would be feared. Some are so secretive about it that they could be sitting next to one another and never even know it. However, this will all change soon.

Over the past five months alone, there have been countless attacks on the east coast. The government has told everyone that these attacks are a result of terrorism. They have joined up with an anti terrorist organization (Commonly referred to as ?The Corporation.?) in an attempt to end these attacks. They have closed down all airports and all main highways. Anyone in New York is staying here. And anyone outside of New York is staying out.

However, many are beginning to realize that these terrorists are more than just terrorists. They have powers. How else could any of this be happening? Maybe normal humans choose to be oblivious, but those who know better can no longer ignore this. Soon they?ll have no choice but to fight back. If they don?t? They will most certainly die.

As for the terrorists themselves, they don't even know what's going on. Their only orders are to destroy and kill. They are little pawns in this great big game of chess. They work for a man that they only know of as "The Boss" And they think that they're important. Which is an almost laughable misconception.

This Role-play is about Super Powers. But you know what, I was sick of those role-plays just about superheroes. So I made this. This RP isn't just another Super-Role-play. This role-play is abut government secrets, and misunderstood villains, and citizens caught in the middle of a war they don't even know exists. This his many different layers, and in my eyes, it has the makings of something different and very "cool." The only problem, I don't have enough Role-players.

I am looking for both creativity and consistency in a role-player. I would like people who post at least 2-3 (Large) paragraphs at least once a week, but no more than once a day. I also need people who are willing to make minor characters (who will die) as well as major characters.
