What:

Yelp?s Field Trip: House Kombucha Workshop

When:

Friday, March 9th 2012 (6:00 ? 8:00 PM)

Where:

600 50th Ave
Oakland, CA 94601
(415) 690-3627

More about the event:

House Kombucha is a live, raw, and probiotic lifestyle beverage. Because we don?t add sugar or flavors to our finished brews, our all natural, artisanal kombucha also happens to be exceedingly low in calories. (House Kombucha = 10 calories / 8oz serving, 50% less than other kombucha)

The Tea

Like any fine food or drink, the magic is in the ingredients. After that, it?s all about the culinary art of proportions and timing.

Did you know that kombucha is made from tea? Not every kombucha company emphasizes this. We do. Tea is as fundamental to kombucha as grapes are to making wine. All our teas are sourced from Red Blossom Tea Company and SF Herb Co., two locally owned and operated businesses that are great places to learn more about tea and herbs.

Different types of tea, green, black and white have different properties, health benefits and preparation needs. We ferment each of our five blends separately, taking care to cultivate the cultures so that they become uniquely accustomed to their tea mixtures. Our current selection of teas have been personally sourced and blended by House Kombucha to make the best 5 flavors of kombucha teas ever.

About the event:

The Art of LetterPress runs February 11th-March 25th, 2012.

Opening Reception: Saturday, February 11th, 6-9pm
Free Screening of ?Typeface?: February 23rd, 6-9pm
Closing Tea: Sunday, March 25th, 3-6pm

The Compound Gallery in Oakland, CA is pleased to present The Art of Letterpress, an exhibition celebrating the bygone era of letterpress printing. A visual panegyric in honor of this distinctive form of artistry, The Art of Letterpress features some of the finest letterpress artists in the Bay Area and beyond. Today, we text, email, and print at the touch of a button, making it easy to forget how labor intensive it was to simply make a sentence and reproduce it multiple times. In an increasing digital age, people long for something that is tangible and tactile?analog. The characteristic texture, ink, and surface of letterpressed text declares it an antiquated champion of typography.

Free Screening for our Art Movie Night on Thursday, February 23rd, 2012, 9pm

In a time when people can carry computers in their pockets and watch TV while walking down the street, Typeface dares to explore the twilight of an analog craft that is freshly inspiring artists in a digital age. The Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers, WI personifies cultural preservation, rural re-birth and the lineage of American graphic design. At Hamilton, international artisans meet retired craftsmen and together navigate the convergence of modern design and traditional technique.
